Waterloo, ON (Oct. 14, 2009) – In a region that embodies business innovation and entrepreneurship, a small group of entrepreneurs will soon be inducted into The Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in recognition of their past, present and future leadership and contribution to the Waterloo Region and beyond. It’s an honor bestowed annually on only a chosen few, and this year’s inductees are:
Tom Jenkins, Open Text Corporation;
Oscar Kuntz, Kuntz Electroplating;
Ian McPhee, WATCOM;
Frank Rovers, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates;
Harold Seegmiller, Seegmiller E & E Ltd.
Receiving the 2009 Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Intrepid Award is John Baker, founder and CEO of Desire2Learn. The Intrepid Award recognizes an entrepreneur who is already a strong leader and who has great promise for future contribution.
The Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame Awards Gala hosted by Communitech will be held November 17 at Bingeman’s Conference Centre where close to 300 attendees will recognize these business leaders who were selected by a blue-ribbon judging panel. The Awards Gala is held during Entrepreneur Week, the largest celebration of entrepreneurial spirit in North America.
“This event is a highlight for Waterloo Region because it celebrates entrepreneurs who embody the true spirit of innovation and inspire that same drive in others,” said Iain Klugman, CEO of Communitech. “These are the people who set the bar for excellence and demonstrate that great things can be done with dedication and leadership.”
